The family of  Denton Ray Haskins has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Denton or "Denny" as he was known to family and friends, was born 25 May 1933. He passed away of natural causes at 88 years of age.

At 17 years old, and lying about his age to join, Denny signed up in the US Army on 26 Jun, 1950, the day after North Korean Forces invaded South Korea on 25 Jun 1950. Upon his original MOS being dissolved, Denny accepted the opportunity to transfer to the recently instituted branch of the United States Air Force in hopes of one day flying. Due to visual acuity issues, Denny would not be able to fly and did multiple jobs from Clerk Typist, Gate Guard, Truck driver and finally Aircraft mechanic. His service remained throughout the rest of the Korean Conflict until the armistice of 27 Jul 1953. He was honorably discharged on 05 Dec, 1953 at the rank of Sergeant.

His involvement with aviation maintenance inspired the passion he would continue outside of the armed forces for the next 59 years at Redlands Airport. He was an Expert Aircraft Mechanic, Aviation Maintenance shop owner for 59 years, Piper Comanche enthusiast and Subject Matter Expert. Denny helped rebuild the Redlands Airport from the ground up.

Denny is survived by his wife Cheryl Leyde, his 4 children, Denise, David, Daniel, & Donald. Followed by 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.
