The family of Navy Veteran Douglas Edmund Friend has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Douglas Friend served with the US Navy from March, 1949 to March, 1950 aboard the USS Boxer.
Doug was the kind of man who spent years of his life running away from responsibility and the last 20 years of his life atoning for his mistakes. He would help anyone who needed a hand, many times to the detriment of his own needs. He eventually succumbed to COPD and emphysema.
Douglas Friend is survived by his sons Bob, Jeff, and Greg, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
Time Table for Thursday, 07 MAY 15:0945 - Stage at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren, Riverside, CA 92518, Family at staging area #3, PGR stage north of staging area #8.
