Part 2 of a 2 part Mission. Memorial Service for (Civil War Veteran) CMOH Recipient Sgt Charles Schroeter, Miramar National CemeteryThe Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation to the memorial service for Charles Schroeter at Miramar National Cemetery so he may receive a proper Military burial, with Honors, that he so much deserves. We are very honored to do so.
Charles Schroeter born in the Kingdom of Hanover Germany on July 4, 1833. He came to United States in 1860 through New Orleans. He worked for a short time until the Civil war broke out, as history shows, he then relocated to St. Louis Missouri and in a short time later on Feb. 27, 1863 enlisted as a private in Company A, 1st Missouri Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, where he mustered in on March 15, 1863.
Charles received the MOH on Feb. 14, 1870 for his gallantry at the battle of Rocky Mesa, AZ. Territory, during the Indian Wars. He is also listed in the Military Times Hall of Valor.
Charles fought in fierce battles to preserve the Union, and to free the enslaved people. He fought to protect Americans as they moved west across a vast and hostile continent.
He is described as 5’ 5 3/4” tall, 137 lbs. Small but obviously a very tough soldier with several battle scars and bullet wounds. He was among the bravest of men and during 30 yrs. of military service remained devoted to his adopted country.
Nov. 23, 1894 Charles retired from the Army as Sergeant with over 30 yrs. military service, which includes 5 yrs. in the Marine Corps. After retiring he lived in Buffalo, N.Y. and sometime in 1918 move to San Diego, Ca. And lived in the North Mission Hills area, where he later died on Jan. 21, 1921, records indicate he was 86yrs. old when he died.
Sgt Schroeter deserves better then to lie without dignity, forgotten in a lonely corner of a dusty crypt. He was a true American Hero and Patriot who deserves and will finally rest with honor.

Sgt Charles Schroeter You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
