The family of Manuel Souza, 99, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Manny served his country in the US Navy during WWII, from the Gilbert Islands, to the Marshall Islands, to Subic Bay, Philippines.  He was a “plank owner” on the USS Elder from 1941-1945 spent time in Funafuti, Tarawa (Gilbert Islands) awarded a battle star for participation in the Gilbert Islands operation, and in the Enewetak (Marshall Islands).  He finished his service in Subic Bay, PI and was separated from the Navy in San Francisco.

In civilian life Manny was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 55 years.   He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling Route 66.
