Samuel R Adams, 73, USMC, Vietnam, Riverside - 3 MAR 17
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:05:43 AM »
The family of Samuel R Adams has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the funeral service and military honors of their loved one.  It is our honor to do so.

Sam was born in Whittier, CA on 3 NOV 43 and passed away on 3 FEB 17.  He came from a family and community that was very close and patriotic.  He enlisted in the USMC in 1962 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

While in Vietnam, his physical stature, adeptness with weapons and the ability to respond quickly resulted in his selection as point man for 18 assignments to clear enemy tunnels.  Sam attributed his survival to his faith in God that guided and protected him on each mission.  He separated from service honorably and with the Vietnam Expeditionary and Good Conduct Medals in 1966.

He also left Vietnam with the exposure to Agent Orange that eventually led to his passing.

In his civilian life, Sam worked in the Finance and Banking industry.  Due to Sam’s continued patriotism and desire for the comradeship of the military brothers, he joined the California State Military Reserve in 2008.  His success in this endeavor resulted in him rising to the rank of Sergeant Major in the CSMR.  His guidance and participation within the Southern Command positively impacted the lives of many soldiers.

Sam is survived by his sons, Samuel III and Dwayne, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as a host of friends, family and comrades.

This a Combat Related mission.  Dog Tags will be available.
