The family of Alfonso Cabrera has invited the Patriot Guard to pay Honors for another WWII Hero, part of the "Greatest Generation". It will be our Honor to do so.

This request has come in from his son Anthony, who followed in his Dads footsteps and joined the Army. He is a Iraq Combat Vet 2004, and is very excited that we will be there to Honor his Dad.

Alfonso was born in Downey, Ca. on Mar. 27, 1924. Alfonso didn't finish High School so on May 13, 1943 at the age of 21 Alfonso joined the Army. He finished training and was assigned to the 182nd Infantry Regiment. During Alfonso's time in the Army he was deployed to the Philippines where he saw a lot of action, then all thru the Asiatic Pacific region. Alfonso was a mine sapper.

During Alfonso's time in the Army he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Liberty Ribbon with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal with Bronze Star for Valor.

Alfonso was discharged on Dec. 14, 1945 at the rank of Private

After Alfonso got his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he went to work as an active civic leader for the City of Compton. While there Alfonso received many Honors and Commendations from the City.

In 2013 at the age of 88 yrs old Alfonso walked with his graduating class of 2013 in cap and gown to receive his High School Diploma, he was also inducted into the "Hall of Fame".

Alfonso passed on March 26, 2017 one day before his 93rd Birthday.

Alfonso leaves behind his wife Angie; Sisters Lily, and Mary; Son Anthony; Daughter Magdalena; Son in law Mike and Daughter Herlinda.
