The family of Richard Radloff, 84, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend Military honors for their Hero, it will be our honor to do so.

Richard Radloff served in the U.S. Navy from September 6, 1951 to November 16, 1954 as an enlisted sailer HM3 (a Petty Officer 3rd Class who is a Hospital Corpsman.)  During his service Richard was on the USS Consolation AH-15 USNR RU (Hospital Ship).

A little history: Departing Norfolk 14 July 1950, Consolation arrived at Korea 16 August to care for the wounded until 6 April 1954.  During this conflict she was the 1st hospital ship outfitted with a helicopter pad.  She participated in Operation “Passage to Freedom” to return French from Vietnam to France, then returning to Korea until March 1955.  She was decommissioned on 30 December 1955.  Consolation received 10 battle stars for the Korean War Service.

After Richard's service he became a co-owner of Renox Welding Supply.  He was also a member of the VFW and Elks lodge for several years.  He enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, traveling, singing, dancing and being with friends.

Even though Richard never had children of his own; “he stepped up to be that man when he married our mom.” He is survived by Steve, Sue, Sheryl and Scott.  Richard is also survived by 8 Grand Children and 13 Great Grand Children.
