The family of
David Albert Ballard has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
David was born on July 24, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA and entered Eternal Rest on July 27, 2017.
David graduated Gardena High as Valedictorian, senior class president, star of the football team and performed in plays and the Chorus. David joined the Navy in 1951, did training at Us Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA. He was on aircraft carrier Valley Forge for short time and spent the most of his time in Japan. He also served in the Korean War. For his service he received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. David was discharged in June 1959.
David married Pamela in 1954 and together they had 4 children Terry, David, Mark and Cindy. As a family they loved camping and traveling. He managed retail stores and a Motel in Reno NV. He was an excellent speech writer and enjoyed speaking in large groups. He also taught Real Estate. He also was a volunteer sheriff and ran many voting polls and worked the census bureau. He was adventurous, loved hot air balloons and he sky dived on his 75th birthday. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved family gatherings for holidays and birthdays. He was also a LA Dodgers fan and loved football and golf. He had a bucket list which included visiting Washington DC. He loved his country and God with all his heart.

NOTE: We have 4 San Diego missions on Tuesday, 29 AUG. Please try to attend as many as you can. It is possible to attend the Veterans Without Family and this Flag Line Only mission at Miramar National Cemetery in the morning and the Norton mission in the afternoon. David Albert Ballard 7/24/1933 – 7/27/2017You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of the mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heros. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during flag line service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed grounds. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
