The family of Philip Lee Nussbaum has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Philip, 70, served his country as an SP5 aircraft specialist in the US Army from 1967 to 1970, time that included combat duty in the Vietnam War.  Also an Aircraft-Engine Mech., Philip worked on many types of aircraft in the Vietnam conflict.  For his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars and Sharpshooter Badge (M-14)

After his Military Duty, Philip continued his love for aircraft.  He was one of the world’s foremost Staggerwing pilot and caretaker.  He maintained and flew antique aircraft for nearly 50 years.

He is survived by siblings Steven Nussbaum, Cindy Sandino and Matthew Nussbaum. Surviving sons are Lee and Michael Nussbaum.

The family has requested a Flag Line Only mission at Miramar National Cemetery as Philip receives his Final Honors.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, we will honor him at Miramar National Cemetery with a Flag Line where he will receive Military Honors. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.
