The family of Richard A. Calderon have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to pay Honors on their Hero's final journey home. It will be our honor to do so.

Richard (most knew him as RAC) was 70 years old at time of death. He was born July 21, 1947, and passed on January 17, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.

He was a member of the United States Marine Corps from July 8, 1965 to July 22, 1966, attaining the rank of private. He was a Weapons Instructor and was Honorably discharged due to hearing loss. He received the M14 Sharpshooter Badge and National Defense Medal.

RAC was born and raised in Los Angeles. He moved to Orange County in the 70's and attended Saddleback College. He loved horses and rode for many years with Las Tortugas.

For many years he drove for a limousine service, then was a private limo driver for 20 years. Most recently he worked at Boot Barn in Lake Forest. RAC knew EVERYONE and considered everyone a friend! He would see people in random places and they would recognize him from Boot Barn!

He loved motorcycles, and was a longtime member and past president of the Capistrano Eagles Motorcycle Club. He recently joined the Elks in Mission Viejo.

He enjoyed vacations to wine country or to visit family. He dearly loved his dogs. Words cannot describe how much he was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Richard, aunt Jane, sister Lorrie, step-children Lori and Steve, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these Military Veterans.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
