The family of Louis John Mansfield Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Lou Mansfield Jr., 83, served his country proudly for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps.   He was a 2511 Wireman in a communications unit.  These Marine units’ jobs were to run communication lines (wires) for forward combat units.  During times of military conflict, this was as dangerous as any job on the front line.

Lou was honorably discharged having achieved the rank of Sergeant.  For his service, he was awarded the M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

In civilian life, Lou worked at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, San Diego.  He is survived by his wife Lorna, daughters Kimberly and Michelle, and 5 grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
