The family of Command Master Chief Petty Officer Abelardo B. Roxas has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his nation.  It will be our privilege to do so.

CMDCM Abelardo “Abe” Roxas, 67, proudly served his country from 1971 to 1998 in the United States Navy.  During his Naval career, Abe served on two aircraft carriers the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Constellation.  Additionally his duty stations included: VAP-61, NAS Cubi Point, the Philippines, FASOTRAGRUPAC DET PACIFIC, COMNAVAIRPAC, NAVMASO DET PACIFIC, then finally ending his career serving as the Command Master Chief of Naval Base Coronado Supply Department.  Abe enjoyed his Aviation Supply Corps career and was proud of his rate and title of Master Chief Aviation Store Keeper, Aviation Warfare (AKCM (AW)).

Abe’s awards include the Southwest Asia Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star, Navy And Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 3rd Award), Joint Meritorious Unit, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Navy Efficiency “E” Ribbon, Battle “E” Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation with Bronze Star, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.

Abe is survived by his wife Maria, his daughters Katherine and Kim, his son Kristoffer, and 5 grandchildren.  Son Kris Roxas is a member of the PGR and we will consider it a privilege to be there to honor this PGR member's father.

The family has requested an accompaniment from the Silver Gate Three Stars Lodge in San Diego to a 1330 committal service at Miramar National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 11 miles.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the memorial service to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
