We have been invited by the family of Col Rex Lawrence Poutre to accompany him on his last ride from the church to his final resting place.  We would be honored to do so.

Col Rex Lawrence Poutre served in the US Army Air Corps & US Air Force from March 1942 to March 1975 when he received his Honorable Discharge at his retirement. During his time in the Army Air Corps & Air Force, he was a highly decorated pilot who flew in World War II in Germany, trained other pilots in the Korean War, and was in Command of Air support in Vietnam. He had 4-1/2 kills in Germany while flying as a support fighter plane, escorting bombers over German territory.

After Rex's retirement, he rode Honda Gold Wings until 1985. He loved long rides like the Iron Butt around the four corners of USA, and participated in the Three Flags rally for 15 years. He also enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and his two sons. Out of boredom he drove many cross country trips in an 18-wheeler for S and S Casket Company, picking up textiles and bales of cotton in Georgia, and delivering caskets to large funeral homes on his way east. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they came along. He spent most of his spare time with his family and listening to Johnny Cash.

The love of his life, LaVaughn, died in 2014.  They were married at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA in 1943 and were married for 72 years at the time of LaVaughn's passing. Rex is survived by three children, Michael, Susan, and Kevin; 7 Grandchildren, 11 great Grandchildren and 2 great, great Grandchildren.
