The family of Boyd B. Brown Jr., 92, has invited the PGR to participate in honoring his life and service to his country. It will be a privilege to do so.

Boyd B. Brown Jr. served in the United States Coast Guard aboard an oiler ship during WWII.  He served from 06 July 1943 to 08 February 1946 and was a Radioman Third Class at the end of his service.

After Boyd’s service to his country he worked communications for the Alhambra Fire Department and Police Department for many years.  He was also a business owner of Kings Trophies and Engraving in La Mesa, CA. for over 20 years.

When Boyd was not working he could be heard on the HAM radio as K6PBE.  He earned his Novice Class amateur radio license at the age 14, and then later earned his General, Advance and Extra class license.  This would eventually lead him to be a member of the following HAM radio organization; U.S. Coast Guard Amateur Radio Club, Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS), Douglas County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (volunteer) and Roseburg HAM Radio Club.

Boyd also enjoyed and loved photography; he even had his own dark room.  He also enjoyed camping and took his family 2 or 3 weekends a month. Lastly Boyd and his wife were avid square dancers and danced for years in AAA-rated Clubs, they also volunteered inside of Knott’s Berry Farm for entertainment.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Jane of 61 and half years, son Boyd, daughter Cheri Yelton, son-in-law Steve and daughter Darla Cherry.  Boyd was preceded in death by his son Craig Yelton.

Boyd also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
