The family of Richard (Dick) Stoney, a longtime friend of the Grimshaw family, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero for his service and sacrifice to his country. We are very honored to do so.

Dick joined the United States Army in November 1961, served three years active duty and three years US Army Reserves, discharged at the rank of Sargent in November 1967.    He had a short stint in Korea in Radio Relay and Carrier Operations.  Following that he was assigned to the First Logistical Command for Exercise Desert Strike at Fort Irwin. He received several letters of recognition and other honors for his active duty service.

Following his military service Dick formed his own company, Stoney Organ Service.  He repaired and serviced organs of all kinds and size, including large church and theater pipe organs. He enjoyed travel and photography and was very active in several service organizations.  Dick and his wife Kathy were both polio survivors and were leaders in Post Polio Syndrome activities.

He is survived by daughter Lisa Hayes, daughter and son in law Rosette and Larry Schneider, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He will be placed beside Kathy at RNC, who pre-deceased him in 2012.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.  The weather is expected to be hot, so please stay hydrated.
