The family of LtCol Roy Gene Haskins, age 92, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his memorial service, we will be honored to do so.
LtCol Haskins enlisted in the US Air Force on April 17, 1944 and served 24 yrs, 7 mo and 3 days until his retirement on May 17, 1968. He served during all three war Eras, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Entered USAF April 1944 Ft. Leavenworth AFB May 1944. 1951-1954: Aircraft Commander and Mission Director for Amphibious Aircraft Commander Air Rescue Service in Europe, Arabia and continental U.S. 1954-1956: Chief of Flight Test Maintenance at San Bernardino Air Materiel Area at Norton AFB which he was current in 17 different Aircraft at one time. 1956-1960: Assistant USAF Plant Representative and Aircraft and Missile Project Officer at Douglas Aircraft Company. Involved with the Skybolt, Thor and Genie Missiles, B-66 and C-133 Aircraft. Test Pilot for new Douglas Aircraft. 1960-1961: Education with Industry Student at North American Aviation, Inc. and involved with B-70 bomber and the GAM-77 air launched supersonic nuclear missile. 1961-1968: Chief of Test and Launch Division of the Special Project Office (SAFSP) for the Secretary of the Air Force. Directed implementation of the Atlas/Agena and Titan/Agena rocket/satellite systems.
After retirement from the USAF, Roy worked at various jobs, Operations Manager at SCI Electronics, Rockwell International, Collins Radio, Chief Design for Flight Controls C-17 Globe Master. Co-purchased and operated the Redlands Airport from 1955 thru 1966, owning Redlands Flight Line, Inc. and through the years enjoyed owning various general aviation aircraft into the late 1980’s. Loved working with personal computers and helping others to start their businesses.
Roy is survived by two siblings (Denny Haskins of Apple Valley, CA) and (Beverly Cozzens of Escondido, CA), a step daughter (Sandie), three grandchildren (Stephanie, Jennifer, and Christi), and many great and great-great grand children.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. This ceremony is taking place at Redlands Municipal Airport as the Hero once co-owned this facility and continued to have very close ties with them. There will be no interment, the family is retaining the Hero's urn.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
