It is an honor that the family of Jose (Joe) Padilla invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their loved ones funeral and military honors.

Joe was born November 26, 1925 in Azusa, CA.  In a family of 15 it was difficult to make ends meet.  In January 1944, after completing 2 years of high school, Joe enlisted in the Navy to help with family expenses.  Joe discharged from the Navy in August 1946 at the rank of Seaman First Class and joined the Army intending to serve in every branch of the military.  However, while in the Army, Joe met and married Esperanza “Blanche” Alvarada.  Joe replaced his military career for a career with his family.

Joe worked hard and provided a home for his family.  Joe was a very giving man, always going out of his way to help others in need.  A religious man, Joe served God as a Eucharistic minister for 35 years giving Communion to the homebound.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Esperanza, and is survived by his son Ron; daughter Christine; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Joe was extremely proud of his military service and always proudly displayed the flag.

Note:  This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested all are welcome, we will accompany this  hero and his family from Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church (6.8 mi) to his final resting place.  Please see time table if you would like to participate.  For those that would rather go directly the cemetery, we will meet you there.
