The family of Joe C. Mora, age 97, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor him for his military service.  We are privileged to do so.

On February 10, 1943 at 19 years old, Joe began his military career with the U.S. Army during World War II.  He went to boot camp at Camp Shelby in Hattisburg, Mississippi, due to segregation of Mexican citizens.  He served in European Theater 69th Infantry (Fighting 69th) Division.  His unit was responsible for liberating the concentration camps.  He was honorably discharged on April 1, 1946.

Joe was an avid baseball fan.  He played semi-pro baseball in Pomona and coached baseball in La Verne.  His favorite team was the Yankees.  He worked as a machinist and forklift operator for over 50 years in Pomona and La Verne.  He worked until his retirement in his late 70’s.

Joseph was a great family man.  His son, Robert, became very close to him at the end, taking care of him until he passed away on August 17, 2019.

Joe is survived by his son, Joseph; son-in-law Tim; and two granddaughters, Abrielle and Katrina.  He was pre-deceased by his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Rose Marie.

For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
