The family of Deleon "Leon" Schauperl has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  It will be our honor to do so.

Leon was born on 26 April 1934 and entered into Eternal Rest on 21 August 2019.

He joined the US Marine Corp right after his High School Graduation and served from 1953-1956.  Leon trained as a Mortar Man with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, and served during the Korean War.  His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Korea Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.  Leon was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

After the military, Leon went into law enforcement with the Fullerton Police Department. He worked for 30 years, 13 of these years were as a Homicide Detective. He was well known for having brought down the East Side Rapist and Serial Killer which resulted in conviction with a life sentence.

After Leon retired from law enforcement, he and his wife Sharron moved to Springville, CA where he farmed 2 orange groves and enjoyed playing golf. Leon loved travelling with Sharron in their RV, going cross country, and to bluegrass festivals with their friends. They frequently relived their honeymoon with routine trips to Morro Bay, and Leon was a long time member of Hillside Community Church.

Leon is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharron, daughters Sheryl, Cynthia, Kimberly, Shannon, Jill, sons Richard, Dan, 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
