The family of Ronald Ziska has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Ronald proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps right after graduating from high school in 1964. His MOS was Maintenance Electrician where he experienced working on CH46 Chinook helicopters. When he was deployed to Vietnam, he requested flight status and became a door gunner on the CH46. He served with HMM262, 1st Marine Air Wing in Da Nang and was shot down twice during extractions. Included in his numerous awards/citations, he was the recipient of two Air Medals.  Ronald was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant (E-6) in 1974.

After the military, Ronald graduated from Stanford University as a Certified X-Ray Technician.  After a while he became an Alameda County Sheriff and eventually lateral transferred to the Hayward Police Department. When he was with that department, he received a commendation from the City of Hayward Mayor.

Ronald is survived by his wife Cheryl. Other surviving family members include Tom, Don, Jim, Frankie and Naomi.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
