The family of David Conners has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero, and our friend and brother, for his Military Service.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Born and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York. Dave (as he was known to family and friends) belonged to the National Guard Reserves during his high school years. He graduated from Siena College as a distinguished ROTC Cadet.

His distinguished service in the US Army spanned over 32 years, from 1958 to 1990, and involved many key assignments. Dave was stationed at USMA, the United States Military Academy, at West Point. He also was stationed in many other hot spots, including a courier tasking into Cuba in the middle of the missile crisis, patrolling the Russian side of the Berlin wall, Military Attaché' to Saudi Arabia and war taskings in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star for heroism during an attack on his infantry company.  He retired from the Army at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

After retirement, he was a managing director of a large commodities firm in San Francisco and established a branch office in La Jolla, California, moving to the San Diego area.

He was a active member in the running club called Hash House Harriers, where he was known as "Captain Zero". He enjoyed comradery and fun with other "Hashers" around the world.

He was also passionately involved as a member with the Patriot Guard Riders, escorting Fallen Heroes who were killed in combat defending our freedom.  He always attended the Veterans Without Family missions at Miramar and would step up to run that mission when the Ride Captains were not available.

His life revolved around service and family. He was humble and graciously served in all walks of life.

Dave would want to be known, mostly, for his time spent with his family and love for them. His children and grandchildren were always his number one priority.

He will be dearly missed by us all and as he use to say at the beginning of all the family trips, "HERE WE GOOOOOO"!

This mission will have tags for our PGR brother.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran and PGR Member. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying our hero to the cemetery.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

NOTE: The viewing for Dave will be on Wednesday Oct 16th, at 6pm to 8pm, at McLeod Mortuary, 1919 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027 https://goo.gl/maps/eGDNwEo1GgVsEZVw8   If you plan on attending please arrive at 6pm.  Dave was an active and loyal PGR member.  He was well liked by all, let us go and say goodbye to a fellow brother.
