The family of Perle E."Dusty" Ward has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Dusty was 94 years old, he served his country in the US Navy Seabees. He served from August 14th 1943 to March 14th. 1946. Rank at time of discharge Machinists Mate 3rd class. Most of the time Dusty was in the Navy he was overseas. During WWII he said he was on different islands in the Pacific. His greatest story was in Iwo Jima. Dusty went on the Iwo Jima Island with the 2nd. wave of Marines. He was on the Island 18 days. Dusty told stories of what he did & saw while he was there, horrible stuff. We can thank God the United states can produce such heroes.

When Dusty left the Navy he went to work for Sears in sales & management. He was with Sears 40 plus years. His hobbies were Church (mostly), shooting pool, & organizing & restoring old cars. He built a 1930 & a 1956 Buick, he had them for many years. He ended up giving both of them to his 2 grandsons.

He is survived by his brother Harold, children Michael, Pamela, & Debra. 7 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren

The family has requested a memorial at the Elks lodge in El Cajon. Dusty was an Elk for over 40 years. We will play taps & fold the flag indoors. We have been invited to attend Dusty’s celebration of life party on the patio of the lodge. He told me “I want to buy y’all a hamburger”. So come at 11:30 & have a free hamburger & chat with family & friends. We will meet in the parking lot at 12:30 for a mission briefing. Mission starts at 1 pm in the lodge where Hero's urn will be present for Military Honors.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
