On Wednesday, 17 June 2020, four (4) American Heroes will be honored at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518.

The four (4) Veterans being transported by the Los Angeles County Coroner are:

Charles  Williams            64          U.S. Marine Corps
David   Shadow              77          U.S. Army
Walter  Schafer              54          U.S. Army
Robert  Brown                51          U.S. Army

We will also recognize those veterans that have been brought to Riverside National Cemetery within the past week for direct burial without final honors.

The PGR will be there to be the family for these veterans and will stand by while military honors are rendered by the California National Guard Honor Team at Riverside National Cemetery.

May the souls of these Veterans rest in peace beneath the green carpet of grass in a Nation they helped to keep free.

They are not alone, we are their family.

“If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days,
Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say,
Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.”

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring these Military Veterans.

We previously issued a statement to all members that there were no changes in effect at RNC, we have just had a revision issued by the Director, here are the new guidelines effective immediately:

PGR will be allowed on the property to accompany the family to the shelter.

PGR who do not want to go on procession may stage at the gate of RNC and form a flag line.

PGR will be allowed to do Flag Lines as appropriate, these must be set a minimum of 6 feet back from any walkway the family may be walking on.

At all times PGR must wear MASKS/FACE COVERING, if anyone shows up with no face covering they must leave the property.

NO MORE THAN 25 PGR MEMBERS AT ANY MISSION Including the Ride Captain, and must include any members who stage at the gate.

Six feet distancing must be strictly enforced (6 feet from each other, 6 feet when parking motorcycles, 6 feet from the family, 6 feet from any other parties such as honor guard/cemetery workers, etc.

NO PRESENTATION TO THE FAMILY

NO GATHERINGS FOR PHOTOS

It will be the responsibility of the Ride Captain of the mission to enforce these rules. Keeping in mind that even though these rules are not easy to abide by, we are happy to once again be able to honor the Hero more fully.

While realizing that we are guests on Federal property and must adhere to all regulations or this could/would affect our ability to be on the property for all future missions.

Any questions please address those to our State Captain, Gunny, please DO NOT contact the Administration office at RNC.

For the time being, we have to limit the number of attendees to 25.  Anyone wanting to attend must call or email Larry Medcraft to be put on the list.  “LMedcraf@yahoo.com”. 951-897-6635.  Larry will be in charge for the rest of the month due to other responsibilities I have to attend.   If those interested go over 25, we will start our next list for the following week.

For the time being, we will not present flowers to our heroes nor will we have tags.  This will maintain our social distance and prevent exchanges that may become unsafe.

“Thank a Soldier”

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
