The family of Yeoman 1st Class Wilbert McCullough, age 90, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Wilbert joined the Navy in 1948 and served for close to 30 years before retiring in 1977 . He was honorably discharged as a 1st Class Petty Officer Yeoman. He served during Korea and Vietnam. He was a special instructor for 10 years (YN-9502). He was awarded the defense service medal, Armed forces expeditionary medal, Combat action ribbon, Navy unit commendation, Sea service deployment ribbon (second), Vietnam service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, Vietnam gallantry cross, sixth good conduct award, Navy and Marine Corps expeditionary medal.

After Wilbert was discharged he worked for the IRS for 10 years. His only hobby was bowling, he loved to bowl, and spend time with his family and friends.

Wilbert was predeceased by his wife of many years. He had 12 brothers and sisters and all are deceased. He had 4 children and 9 grand and great grand children.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1020 - Flag Line for dignified transfer of Hero's urn to family vehicle

1100 - Arrive at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery

1130 - Flag Line and Full military honors

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely
