The family of Kim Johanna Hancock has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with them on the occasion of her funeral and final military honors. Kim passed away at home, peacefully, in Palmdale on October 21st, 2020.
We are honored to stand with her family and friends.
Kim was born in Pacoima on October 8th, 1960. She was the daughter of Dolores and Selmer Anderson, Jr., a welcomed addition to a large and still growing family (eventually 12). Kim is survived by her son, Samuel Lamar Hancock, three brothers Johnny, Robin and William and her five sisters: Gilda, Delores, Michelle, Ginger and Harriet as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Our hero joined the United States Air Force in 1981 and served as an Information Manager until 1993. Her son, Sammy, was born while Kim was stationed in Turkey. Kim was a SSgt (E-5) at the time of her discharge. Following her military service our hero continued her service to America as a Mission Support Specialist with I.C.E., Dept. Of Homeland Security. In total, she served her country with honor for 29 years. She only stood down to fight a battle with stage 4 lung cancer in 2016.
Kim enjoyed life with close friends and family and travelled the coast and vacationed here and abroad. We are honored to join with the family which includes five siblings who served in the Air Force, Army and Marines
We are being afforded this honor of sending off our hero with the total cooperation of the staff of Eternal Valley. This venue is still operating under some Covid-19 restrictions and we will be masked and socially distant. There is no accompaniment so our motorcycles and cages will not have to travel in tight formation on this challenging property. This is happening on Veterans Day and while most of our usual events have been cancelled or gone virtual this remains an opportunity for us to join her veteran siblings in honoring their and our sister hero.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be meeting the hero and her family at the cemetery. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
