The family of Patrick Michael Murphy 74, U.S. Navy, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to Honor their loved one on his final journey, we are very honored to accept this invitation.
Patrick Michael Murphy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1962 through 1972. The last ship duty was served on the USS Navasota (AO-106) which was an Ashtabula-Class replenishment oiler that served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1973, then transferred to the Military Sealift Command to continue service as United States Naval Ship Navasota until taken out of service in 1992. Navasota was sold for scrapping in 1995.
During his service Patrick earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Patrick's civilian life was filled with his love of racing carts and motorcycles before and after his service. One of his favorites racing styles was flat track racing. One of his earliest achievements was achieved at the age of 16 which was setting a record of the fastest lap time at 1 minute and 11 seconds.
Patrick will be dearly missed by all who knew him; especially his sister and Nephew Matthew.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
