The family of Al Serrato Sr. has requested the Patriot Guard Riders join them as they say their final good-byes to their hero. We are honored to have been asked to join with the family in honoring this Vietnam Hero.
Al Serrato, Sr. spent 50 wonderful years married to his bride, Lily. He is also survived by his son, Alfred Serrato, Jr., his granddaughter Kobi Serrato, and stepsons Benjamin and Edward Voll.
Al served with the 25th Infantry Division while in Vietnam, and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnamese Civil Deefense Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Jungle Expert Patch, Panama.
His post military career included six years as a financial analyst with Dunn and Bradstreet, consulting to a Regan era Presidential Think Tank; Fullbright Scholar to Namibia; elected to the Santa Ana City Council and Santa Ana Housing Commission. He continued to serve his fellow soldiers through various service organizations, including Commander American G I Forum, District Commander Veterans of Foreign Wars,Thailand/Cambodia, Finance Officer Santa Ana American Legion, member Military Officers Assn., National Commander of the Combat Infantry Association and worked tirelessly on behalf of military vets/widows as a Service Officer. Additionally, he represented US Ambasadors to Thailand as an Embassy Warden. An expert in Asian art and culture, he spoke Mandarin, Spanish, and Thai.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will perform a Flag Line of Honor as the hero is moved from the Chapel to the coach for his final journey. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
