The family of USMC Gunnery Sergeant Homer Robert Gray, Jr., has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

GySgt Gray proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from November 1972 through November 2002.  He served in Desert Storm, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Meritorious Mast Medal, and several Good Conduct Medals.  His duties included Air Control/Anti Air & Amphibious Warfare, Air Control Electronics Operator, and Air Defense Control Operator.  Upon his retirement he had attained the rank of USMC Gunnery Sergeant.

Following GySgt Gray’s retirement from the USMC, he worked at the US Postal Service, where he also worked until retirement.  Homer was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed taking his boat out to sea.  He also enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and was a coach for the Special Olympics.

GySgt Gray, is survived by his wife Nelia, children Ryan and Starla, his brother Roscoe, and his sisters Diane, Jean, Jude, Peggy, and Rebecca.  He also is survived by 2 grandsons, 2 great grandsons, and several nephews and nieces.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family residence to his final resting place, approx 32 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
