The family of CWO4 James D. Hollis USN(Ret) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

James Dosier Hollis, 98, served his country for 30 years (2 months and 15 days) in the U.S. Navy, a time that included duty in World War 2 and Korea. James received the Good Conduct Medal with two stars, American Campaign Medal, European, African, Middle East Campaign Medal, and WW2 Medal. He retired 01 April 1976

James Hollis was strong and healthy until just before his passing. James passed last year during COVID and now his family is finally able to put him to rest.
At age 92 he asked his daughter to hike Stonewall with him. Stonewall is a 2.2-mile hike up a steep switchback.  It took 3 hours but he did it! He taught his children to be strong and independent.

James leaves behind two daughters and his wife. He had a son that passed in 2014.

The family has requested an accompaniment from the assisted living facility where his wife now resides to Miramar National Cemetery, a procession of approximately 24 miles.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the Assisted Living Facility to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: Please observe the latest “COVID-19” restrictions.
