The family of Sgt Lam Le and the U.S. Marine Corps have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the funeral services and interment of this Hero, we would be honored to do so.
Sgt Lam Le enlisted in the Corps in the summer of 2008, right after graduating high school as the top male in his graduating class. Instead of pursuing college, as most students who excel at both academics and athletics do, Le wanted to serve and protect his country. Sgt Le was about to be deployed with his unit, 1st Maint Batt out of Camp Pendleton, in 2010 then he was diagnosed with cancer and taken off the deployment list. He was medically retired 11 May 2012, but remained connected to the Wounded Warrior Balboa Battalion.
Sgt Le began treatments at Balboa Hospital in San Diego in 2010 and has been under treatment and part of the Wounded Warriors Balboa unit until his passing 05 May 14 after a valiant battle. His energy, positive attitude and zest for life never waned during these years of treatment, he was an inspiration to all that came in contact with him.
Sgt Le continued to perform and compete as a warrior with the Wounded Warrior Battalion, and won San Diego's inaugural Wounded Warrior Tennis Camp Tournament. He also traveled to represent the USMC in the Military Racquetball Federation (MRF) whenever he could.
Sgt Le is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Holly Anne Macaranas, their daughter Melanie, his parents Nghia Nguyen and Minh Do, sister Donna Nguyen, brother Steven Do, and many other family members, friends and his brothers in the Corps.
The strength and determination that Sgt Le always lived by is demonstrated by his favorite bible verse Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
