The Patriot Guard has been asked by the family of Frederick Exzabe to participate in his funeral service this Saturday, Aug 31.  Services will be held at the All Faith Chapel onboard the Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake, CA.  We will perform a flag line prior to and following services which will include military honors.  Escort to cemetery is not required.

Frederick Exzabe joined the U.S. Army at 19 yrs old in 1968 and drove tanks in Vietnam until 1972 when he transferred to the U.S. Navy.  He served aboard both the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Enterprise where he worked as a boiler water/feed water test and treatment operator and auto boiler controls operator.  He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1980.

Frederick moved to Ridgecrest in 1983 and became a bartender first for the Officer's Club until it became a museum, then the Moose Lodge and finally at the American Legion.  He enjoyed helping single servicemen with a place to spend holiday dinners which he enjoyed cooking and was very good at. His daughter says "People used to tease that he could make a skunk taste like the best steak ever".  He loved entertaining, the beach, camping and fishing.

Frederick was a single dad who raised his two children alone and is survived by them, his son Mark, daughter Beth, and granddaughter Leah.
