Rupert Barron, 97, USA, WWII - Ventura - 03 September
« on: September 01, 2021, 02:51:52 AM »
We have been invited by the family to accompany Rupert Barron on his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Our Hero enlisted in the Army 1942, was assigned to the 333rd Infantry Regt. 84th Division, and served in England, France, Holland, Germany, and Belgium during World War II. He sustained war injuries and was discharged from the military in 1946. At the time of his discharge, he was a PFC with the MOS of 746, Automatic Rifleman. Rupert was decorated with the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal Good Conduct, and the Purple Heart. Rupert's battle wound was shrapnel into his brain which was inoperable and he dealt with it his whole life.

Rupert led a remarkable life. He was born March 27, 1924 in Santa Barbara, California.  He was a caring and a funny father that shared his humor, and enjoyed making family and friends comfortable and always feel welcomed. Rupert enjoyed having breakfast with his family at Main Street Restaurant, Vagabond Restaurant, and Eggs 'n' Things. He enjoyed the simple things in life: family barbecues, family parties, camping, fishing on the Ventura Pier, and Christmas with all his family. He enjoyed seeing his family making tamales with his daughter, Anita, being main head chief. Rupert was a member of Local Laborers Union 585 (50 years), Ventura VFW, American Legion, and Tortilla Flats Originals.

Rupert is preceded in death by his parents, Diomicio and Tranquilina; loving wife Senaida; son Rupert Barron Jr.; daughters Mary Virginia Barron and Rachel Mendoza; grandchildren Andrea Arciniega and Joe Barron; brother’s Joe, Jess, Frank, Tony and Edward Barron; sisters Frances, Mary, Felipa, and Reyes Barron.

Our hero is survived by daughters, Anita, Modesta, and Virginia, and one brother, Louis Barron. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

His final journey will include taking this procession through an underpass that displays the Tortilla Flats Mural. Our hero's likeness is featured on this landmark.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: Please observe the latest COVID restrictions. Please have a face covering/mask should the need arise.
