Jack Boren was born Jakob Borenkraut in Radom, Poland, in July of 1927. His initial introduction to American solders was being granted the precious gift of liberty when a military company intercepted an extermination train that he was aboard as it traveled through Southern Germany destined for a mass grave in the Alps. American soldiers opened his train car and there standing, barely alive and skeletal, he was greeted by men who immediately cared and nursed his humanity. Freedom was the gift represented by these American uniforms and later became the pride of lifetime to honorably serve the flag of our nation.
He was a holocaust survivor who, upon being liberated, got to meet the then General of the Army, Dwight Eisenhower, who provided for his Displacement camp needs. Within a year of immigrating to the USA through Ellis Island, he was drafted into the US Army, during the Korean War. He was sent back to Germany to serve his now adopted country in an American soldier's uniform. Considering the life he lived under the Nazis, it goes without saying that his circumstances of being sent back to manage post war American bases in German territory is very unusual. He was extremely proud to be an American and everything it stands for. After his Military Service, Jakob changed his name to Jacob Boren to a name that sounded more American. His surviving brothers and sisters followed his lead, and changed theirs as well.
Upon his death, the family discovered that Jack had been giving almost 25% of his limited fixed income each month to a variety of Veterans Organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project, Paralyzed Veterans, United States Sheriff Association, and many others.
This man truly was a quiet hero.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
