Part 1 of 2 PartsThe family of HM1 Sarah F. Burns, age 31, and the US Navy have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present for her arrival from Dover as she returns to So California for burial. We will be honored to be there.
HM1 Sarah Burns was serving with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Eight (HSC-8) when she and 4 other Navy personnel were killed aboard a Seahawk helicopter just off the coast of San Diego when a mishap occurred on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier just as the helicopter was taking off.
Originally from Maryland, Sarah and her husband Lucas had made their home in the San Diego area. Sarah loved being a Navy Corpsman, her calling was in the care for others.
HM1 Burns is survived by her husband and many other family members, friends and her fellow Sailors and will be missed by all who knew her for her bright smile and positive attitude. She will not be forgotten.
