One of our very own PGR Members, Steve Sorenson, a regular at Veterans Without Family and the family of RMC Walter Joseph Huntington, 88, USN(Ret), has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their loved one for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Walter was born on 24 January 1933.
Walter served his country for twenty-four years in the U.S. Navy. He served his country from 1950 to 1974 during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Walter’s specialties included Cryptographic Machines Repairman and Communications Security Devices Equipment Technician. His awards/citations included the Good Conduct Medal(multiple), National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korean War Service Medal and Navy Marksmanship Badge. His last duty station before his retirement was the USS Sampson (DDG10) at the Naval Station, Norfolk, Virginia. Walter retired as a Radioman Chief (RMC, E-7) in 1974.
After retiring from the Navy, Walter worked for Minolta as a service technician for twenty-plus years.
His four children and two stepsons survive Walter. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the Mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or casual attire if you are driving a cage (car).
Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.
Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
