SHORT NOTICE!!The wife of Marshal W. Whatley, Jr., has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to join her, their son, and other family members and friends as they bid a final farewell to their hero. We are honored and privileged to fulfill her request.
Marshal served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990-1994 and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal. After boot camp in San Diego and serving as a crew chief on the CH-53 Super Stallion, he was stationed at MCAS Tustin. After finishing flight training he was stationed at Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii.
Marshal lost his life in a plane he was piloting in Temecula on 23 November 2021. Investigators labeled him a hero as was able to actively avoid houses and children playing outside as his plane went down. He loved anything with wings or a rotor and was certified to fly many aircraft. Prior to his death, he had built a plane that was almost ready to fly.
As a civilian, he worked for Microsoft as principal project manager and also had many dealings with the DOD.
Marshal is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Andrea Lynn Whatley, and their 21-year-old son, Nathan Wayne Whatley.
