The family of James (Jim) Terry Hardy has requested the Patriot Guard to accompany him as he makes his final journey for Military Honors. It is our honor to do so.
James was born on 7 March 1956 and passed on 20 January 2022.
James (Jim) joined the Marine Corps after high school on 17 March 1975. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton and was deployed to Vietnam to support amphibious combat vehicles in a reconnaissance mission. Jim was awarded the Marksman badge and Good Conduct Medal. Jim achieved the rank of Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge on 16 March 1979.
Jim grew up riding horseback which blossomed into riding in local rodeos and attended the Sheriff’s rodeo yearly with family and friends. Jim remained in Southern California the rest of his life, working as a mechanic and diesel technician. Everyone who met Jim through work or on a personal level noted what a pleasure he was to be around. His humor and storytelling was second to none. It was Jim’s love of hot rods and mechanical skills that led him to meeting his wife Karen and restoring her Pontiac GTO. They enjoyed rides in his El Camino and would hot rod around when ever given the chance. They enjoyed car shows together and joined the Inland GTO Club. They made a pact to never part with either car.
Jim is survived by his wife Karen who he shared his love of God with for 35 years of marriage. Daughters Katie, Shannon, Michelle, Kris, and Jim’s daughter Amber. Son Kristopher, his sister Patsy, Eleven grandchildren, extended family and friends too numerous to count.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to the cemetery (approximately 53 miles). Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
