The family of Robert “Bob” Edward Bethel has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.
Bob was born in Fullerton on 19 April 1946 and entered Eternal Rest on 23 January 2022.
Bob was in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. His awards/citations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and M-14 Marksmanship Badge. Bob was at Fort Lewis, Washington, at the time of his honorable discharge as a Sergeant(E-5).
Bob graduated from Fullerton High School in 1964 and earned both a BS and MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from CSU, Fullerton, and a MBA from La Verne.
Bob had a forty plus years career in the Petro Chemical Engineering Industry.
Bob enjoyed Classic Cars, was an avid reader and found pleasure in listening to his favorite tunes in his garage as he dreamt up his next car restoration project.
Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Jean, his daughters, Jody and Bobbie, and son Ryan. He also leaves behind his sister Mona and twelve grandchildren. Waiting for him in heaven is his granddog Rylee.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would instead go directly to the Cemetery.
If you cannot accompany this Hero, please consider meeting us at the Cemetery entrance with a flag line as the Hero arrives.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All P.G.R. members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
