The family of Donald (Doc) Smith has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in the honoring of this hero, it would be our honor to do so.
Donald Smith was known as Doc by many of his friends. Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1973 and was Honorably Discharged in 1973 after 20 years of service when he retired. Donald is a Vietnam Veteran having served 2 tours as Military Post Master in-country.
Donald was awarded:
- the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
- the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal
- the National Defense Service Medal
- the Bronze Star
Donald is survived by his children Eileen Smith, Rhonda Fleisler and Kevin Smith. His sisters Roxie Ball and Sherry Smith. Donald had 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Donald worked at the Manhattan in Chula Vista for the past 20 years and also considered his many co-workers and friends as his family. According to his friends Donald had expressed that he would like the PGR presence during his service.
Let’s help honor this hero who served his country well when called upon.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).
