The family of Richard Baker Libbey has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their hero on the occasion of his final journey and Military Honors. We are honored to participate.
Richard, who was known as Rick, enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps in 1967 where he served Honorably until his discharge in 1970. At the time of his separation, he was an Corporal. His unit was an artillery unit that saw action in Vietnam. That unit was the 3/12 under the 1st Battalion and saw action in the Tết Offensive of Khe Sanh and Battle of Huế.
Following his service to his country, Rick worked for Amtrack for 33 years until his retirement. He also volunteered at Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino and enjoyed spending many hours there as a guest. He was also active in a POW-MIA organization.
Our Hero was married to Tina Louise Fahrney Libby and is survived by his three siblings, George, Jean, and Joyce. We will be joined at the mission briefing by Tim “Lone Rider” Hastings, a RFTW Outreach member. He will share additional information about his friend, Rick.
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this is a flag line only (FLO) mission at the mortuary and memorial park. For those who would like to participate, please see the timetable and we will meet you there.
