The PGR has been invited by the family of Lt. Jack Clifford Smith, 74, to be present as he receives his military honors, we are privileged to do so. One of his family members is our dear PGR brother Jim "Sweeper" Sloan who reached out to us to honor his cousin.

Jack enlisted in the US Army and attended Artillery Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma before going to Officer Candidate School. Upon completion of OCS he was Commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant, and then served in Alaska. Jack proudly served his Nation from February 1966 to April 1969, and for that we are grateful.

Jack worked for So Cal Edison after his Military Service until his retirement.  When he was not working Jack could be found outdoors hunting and fishing. Jack was active with the American Legion Post in Redlands for 27 years and was the Finance Officer for part of that time.

Jack  will be forever missed by his brother Tom, sister Kathy and his companion Ingrid.

Note: Jim "Sweeper" Sloan and the family wanted me to let the PGR members know that we are invited to join him and the family at the American Legion Post in Redlands after the mission if you wish. American Legion Post 106, 814 W. Colton Ave., Redlands, Ca 92374  We do not normally include this in our posting but are making an exception because Jim is a PGR brother and hopes to see as many old friends as possible when he comes down from Oregon for this mission.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.

Do not follow where the path may lead...Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.-Courage

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
