The family of AECS Ivy Taylor Jr. has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service. It will be our privilege to do so.

Ivy Taylor, 52 served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years. Time spent deployed in both Desert Storm/Shield and Iraqi Freedom. His awards and Medals include Global War on Terrorism Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals, six Good Conduct Awards, and Master Training Specialist Qualification.

After graduating from “A” school, Ivy received his first set of orders to work on HH-46D aircraft in Guam at HC-5. He enjoyed working in his rate and military life so much he re-enlisted for orders to San Diego where he was assigned to HSL-47 working on SH-60B aircraft this time. Ivy became the squadron’s premier aircraft electrician and because of his knowledge was next given orders to be an instructor teaching junior aviation electricians at The North Island School House. During this time Ivy qualified as a Master Training Specialist, a major qualification, exemplifying his experience of the SH-60 aircraft and his ability to pass that knowledge to the next generation. He then returned to HSL-47 and was tasked with Banda Aceh Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Missing his time spent in Guam Ivy picked orders to go back to his first command HC-5, which now had transitioned to HSC-25 and its aircraft from HH-46D to MH-60S. While there he served as the DET Chief for the Iraqi Air Ambulance Detachment and completed two deployments onboard the USNS Carl Brashear and the USNS Amelia Earhart. Finally, Ivy reported to his last command in San Diego, HSM-35 and retired there in 2014 after 26 years of honorable service.

Upon his retirement, Ivy worked for NATEC as the resident Sikorsky Aircraft Electrician Tech Representative until his recent passing. He is survived by his spouse Tia Taylor and their five children L’Darrion, Peyton, Braylon, Ian and Brielle Taylor.
