The family of Police Officer Gardiel Solorio and the Monterey Park Police Department invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in his funeral services. It is an honor to accept this invitation.

Officer Gardiel Solorio grew up in the City of Bell Gardens, CA. After graduating high school, Gardiel attended California State Los Angeles earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Gardiel joined the Monterey Park Police Department, graduating from the police academy in July 2022.

On July 25, 2022, Gardiel began his field training with the Department. In his short time in the Department, his fellow officers and supervisors described him as humble, dedicated, selfless, and hard-working. Monterey Park Police Chief Kelly Gordon said, “Although his time with Monterey Park was very short, we all knew from the moment we met him that he had the heart of service and was going to be a great officer.”

On 8 AUG 22, Gardiel was off duty and in his car in the parking lot of the LA Fitness Gym in Downy, CA., when a man with a gun approached and attempted to rob him. Gardiel attempted to evade the man, but the man shot Gardiel and fled the scene. Sadly, Gardiel succumbed to his injuries.

Gardiel is survived by his parents, siblings, and his fiancee.

Note: This notice facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this law enforcement officer.
