The family of YN1 Kenneth M. McLaughlin (Ret) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country.  It will be our honor to do so.

YN1 Kenneth McLaughlin, 89, served his country in the United States Navy.  He served for 19.5 years, a career that spanned from WWII, to the Korean and the Vietnam Wars.

Kenneth served aboard the modified Atlanta-class light cruiser, USS Oakland CL-95 and the Essex-class carrier, USS Hornet CVS-12.  He served in Guam and at Lake Mead Base, Las Vegas.

Kenneth earned many commendations including the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the WW2 Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal W/Asia, the China Service Medal and the National Defense Medals.    At the time of his retirement he held the rank of YN1, Yeoman First Class (E-6).

After retirement from the Navy in 1965 he worked for the University of California Marine Physical Lab, Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his step-daughter Judy.  He is survived by step-daughter Marilyn McGinnis, daughter Candi Ravenscraft, nine grand-children and nine great-grand-children.

We will be providing a flag line at the mortuary in El Cajon, an accompaniment to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, and a flag line at the cemetery.
