The family of MCPO James Henry Reid has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Jim passed away at the age of 86. Cause of death was service related. Cancers related to asbestos and agent orange.
Jim joined the US Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1977. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He served in Korea & Vietnam.
After his military retirement Jim worked and retired from SDG&E Encinas Power Plant in Carlsbad. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome and riding his Spyder motorcycle. He loved watching his Boston sports teams and the Padres.
Jim is survived by his spouse Candice Daniels Reid, brother William Reid, his step children Charisse Daniels, Stephanie Daniels Wears, and Stephen Daniels, and 5 grandchildren.
Jim was an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders for at least 14 years. He served as a Ride Captain for a very long time. A good friend to many of us. A good sailor and American Patriot. A good husband, father, & grandfather. He will be missed by all the people that knew him and never forgotten.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the chapel service to his final resting place. You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
