Eugene A. Gleason, 94, USAAC, WWII - FLO/MNC - 24 October
« on: October 21, 2022, 05:13:47 AM »
The family of Eugene A. Gleason has asked the PGR to have a flag line at MNC for his arrival and escort him to his final resting place. It will be an honor to do so.

Eugene served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII for almost three years.  During that time, he was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and WWII Victory Medal.  At the time of discharge, he was a PFC on 24 March 1947.

After WWII, Eugene worked as a masonry then he started Geno's Trucking & Tire Service until he retired. In Eugene's time off, he enjoyed Big Band Music and dancing, bike riding, camping, and exploring new places.  Other times he loved riding on the San Diego Trolley, meeting and talking to people of all walks of life, and helped put a smile on their faces for the day.  He liked keeping up with Veteran issues to include health issues, world events, civil rights, and to help with the homelessness.

Eugene was survived by his children Sophia Harris, Helen Green, Eugene Gleason III, Larry Gleason, Zelda Frazier, Lucille Goodwin, Erika Whalen, Etis Fathy, and Unree Johnson, as well as 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, this is a flag line only (FLO) mission at Miramar National Cemetery.
