We have been invited by the family of Alan Wheeler, 78, to be present as he receives his
military honors, we are privileged to do so.

After Al graduated from Westchester High School he enrolled at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, earning a degree in Business. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was overseas in 1967‐1968 and while there he earned an Army Commendation Medal. Al was Honorably Discharged in 1973.

He met his wife of 54 years, Sharon Lynn Wheeler, in 1962. They married June 15th, 1968, in Inglewood, CA, after Al returned from Vietnam. Al was a dedicated and loving family man to Sharon and his two daughters, Alysha and Tiffany. He took especially great delight in being a grandfather of three.

Family was the most important part of Al’s life. His had fond childhood memories and loved his parents dearly. Growing up, holidays and special occasions were always well attended by extended family. Al carried on the tradition of the Walsh/Wheeler Family Golf Tournament, held every Easter, for 50 years. He made a great effort to keep in touch with family through the years and attended as many weddings and special gatherings as he could.

He was an incredibly dedicated, honest, and hardworking company man for Carnation/Nestle Foods for 26 years. His warm and generous spirit fostered many close relationships that allowed him to make a perfect transition into starting a food consulting business after retirement, with his close relative Dennis. He worked passionately every day, until his passing.

Al also had a lifelong passion for baseball. He started playing as a young boy and was an All‐Star Pitcher at Westchester High School. He made lifelong friendships, with whom he played softball with as an adult for many years. His favorite activity besides watching his daughters grow up ‐ and attending all their dance performances ‐ was watching Dodgers baseball.

He is survived by his sister Vicki, wife Sharon, married daughters Alysha and Tiffany, and 3 grandchildren ‐ Taylor, Jake, and Jax.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
