The family of Detective Cleon Earl Jones, age 78, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present as their Hero is laid to rest.  It will be our honor to be there.

Cleon Jones went to work for Los Angeles Police Department in 1964 and was a motorcycle officer early in his career.  He excelled in his job and was promoted several times, achieving the position of Detective some time prior to his retirement from the Department in 1994.  Detective Jones was also the recipient of the Department's Medal of Valor for an incident in 1966 involving the armed robbery of a Jack in the Box where he chased down the suspect and got into a gun battle with the individual and was instrumental in saving a number of lives.

Cleon was a member of M.M.O.C (Municipal Motorcycle Officers of California) for 50 years.  He loved playing soccer and played on the LAPD soccer team.  He also coached his son's soccer teams, in High School and College.  He loved woodworking and fresh water fishing, but mostly loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Cleon is survived by his wife Margie, sons Cleon and Randal, sister Beverly, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
