The family of Louie Anthony Silva has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Louie passed away on April 13th. He was 90 years old and died of natural causes.

Louie joined the Army in Jan.1953 & was honorably discharged Nov. 1954. In that short time, he rose to the rank of S. Sgt. E-6. He was in the Korean War. He was on the front line when the armistice was signed on 27 July 1953. He told me he could hear the enemy speaking in the dark on that quiet day. He was awarded ROK Pres Unit Citation. National Defense service Medal, Korean Service Medal W/1 BSS, United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

After leaving the Army he worked as a Barber, then he became a wine and liquor salesman for over 20 years, he then retired and bought a Nightclub and called it Louie Louie’s in La Mesa. Then sold the club to work and play golf at Riverwalk golf course as an ambassador (face of the course) for about 20 years.

Hobbies- Golf, Golf, and more Golf, but he also liked to travel, play his keyboard and sing, He loved to drive his 1955 Jag (which he still had it, & bought new) with the top down. He loved to Play cards at the Elks Club.

He enjoyed spending time with his family that included his wife Marilyn (married for almost 71 years). His brothers, Leroy and George, sisters Jeanie, and Priscilla. His 4 kids Marla, Curt, Lance, and Darryl. He has 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandson.

Louie is a personal friend of Santa Ken’s. Many hours of playing cards & shooting pool. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family is asking the PGR to escort them from the family home in El Cajon to Miramar.

We encourage those who do not ride to participate in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, where you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely. Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
