The family of Mario R. Hernandez, age 89 have invited the Patriot Guard to honor him.  It is our honor to do so.

Mario was drafted into the U. S. Army while working for the Santa Fe Railroad.  He honorably served from 11 Oct 56 to 10 Oct 58.  He then served additional years in the Army Reserve.  He earned the rank of Sp4. He was fortunate in serving his enlistment within the United States, mostly at Fort Bliss.

Mario returned to work at the Santa Railroad as a machinist for a total of 45 years.  He enjoyed spending time with friends and family sitting in his garage.  He also enjoyed sitting in the sun and watching the birds.  He enjoyed listening to Mariachi music and watching trains. He also was a member of the Eagles.

Mario comes from a large family of seven brothers and six sisters.  He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.  He was married for 67 years to the love of his life, Jessie.  He is survived by his sons Mario Jr. and Patricio and his daughter Debra, along with seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.
